Capt Hiram's Fishing May Fishing Report

by Admin 2. May 2011

Inshore:  In the Indian River Lagoon Trout and Redfish have been very plentiful around most of the spoil islands and sunny shore lines. Snook are still closed until September if you catch one take care of them; try to leave them in the water and not to handle to much. As the weather continues to improve so will the fishing.

Trout and Reds cannot resist small gold spoons, jerk baits or top water plugs.

Offshore:  From the beaches and out a few miles Pompano, Jack Crevalle, Spanish Mackerel and King Mackerel should  be roaming the shorelines looking for pods of bait-fish. Top water plugs, Silver spoons and diving plugs are great choices for all of these game fish. Just remember to match the hatch. If you see glass minnows throw a plug that is the same size or looks something like a glass minnow.

Feather offshore May 1st Grouper reopens the 60 foot reefs should be a good place to start.Live pin-fish or live pig-fish should be your best bet, But don't forget Squid and cigar minnows will work just fine. Also May is prime time for Dolphin; look for color changes, rips and weed lines trolling Ballyhoo skirted and naked. Flying fish and birds are good signs that fish are feeding under them so keep a close look out.

Capt Michael's April Fishing Report

by Admin 8. April 2011

The waters are full of life off the shores of Capt Hiram's.  Spring is here and with spring comes Cobia, Dolphin and Wahoo. Pods of bait are all over the place, from just off the beaches to the offshore reefs.

If your looking for Cobia, first try the beach. Look for Rays; the Cobia will be swiming with the Rays or just under them. You will also find them on the offshore reefs. If you're bottom fishing the reefs, Cobia will follow hooked fish up to the surface; be sure to have a rod and a bait ready when they come up to the boat.

Fishing for the Dolphin; look for color changes, rips and weedlines. And keep an eye on those birds, they can lead you right to the fish.

Don't forget to mark your calendars for the SISA 39th Annual 2011 Spring Fling Tournament, April 30th (Capt's Meeting on April 29th) always a great time!

QR What?

by Admin 24. March 2011

So what is a QR code?  Well in our case it's the most recent way to keep up with what's going on at Capt Hiram's while you are mobil.  Just scan the little black box and it takes you right to a page with upcoming fun things to do on Sebastian's Riverfront. We know how fun everyone's having with their smart phones (even if you don't admit it) so the Capt decided to get in on the fun.

Soon you'll see QR codes on our coasters, in ads, posters, flyers; wherever we can put our mark.  We are kind of new at it but excited to use this great fun technology.  Right now we have two that you will see on our new coasters.  Our concert QR code will keep you up to date on all the fun things we have coming up.  Our hotel QR will take you right to our hotel mobil web page where you can click to call for a room if you're having too much fun to drive home.

So what does QR mean? Quick Response code because we always want to provide our guests with quick positive response.
