They Don't Call it the Treasure Coast for Nothing!

Sebastian is full of treasures and you can find them at Mel Fisher’s Treasure Museum! Right in Downtown Sebastian, walking distance from our Indian River hotel, dive into history at Mel Fisher’s Treasure Museum. On the momentous day of July 20th, 1985, treasure hunter Mel Fisher found the mother lode of the Spanish ship, Nuestra Señora de Atocha. Over 40 tons of silver and gold, 100,000 Spanish coins, gold coins, Colombian emeralds, silver and gold artifacts and over 1000 silver bars were found and now pieces of history live in Mel’s Treasure Museum. You can start your time at the museum with a short movie on the history of treasure hunting on the Treasure Coast and Mel Fisher’s dream. Then you are invited to tour the small but surprising museum, by checking out artifacts and pieces of gold. You can even buy one of the gold coins yourself, if you have that kind of loot on you. So gather the family and head into town for a one of a kind day in Sebastian!
